For Coporations and Other Organizations

This content is ideal for newly hired professionals early in their careers and can be part of a mentoring program.

There is also a free podcast that presents an essay from the collection each week.

“Strategies for the Workplace” is a collection of over 200, brief articles designed to foster critical skills such as:

Clear and Effective Communications

Productive Teamwork and Collaboration

Structured Decision Making

Efficient Time Management

Analytical Problem Solving

Critical Thinking

Operative Technical Literacy

Adaptability, Resilience and Coping

Professionalism

The material grew out of the observation that “Experience is what you have just after you need it.”  Particularly early in a career, employees will be exposed to many new professional situations and, because initially the terminology, business challenge, or interpersonal dynamic will be unfamiliar to them, their ability to engage, contribute, or lead will be less than they and their employers wish.  This evergreen content, whether consumed in book or podcast form, and whether taken as a whole or in individual articles, delivers a nugget of insight as well as practical techniques for applying the topic in business situations.

The material is intended for a professional in the early stage of his or her career and can be distributed and used in various ways, such as:

  1. Give a copy of the book (Available on Amazon) to each new member of an organization, perhaps as part of onboarding or new-hire orientation.  Consider assigning a mentor.

  2. Store digital copies of all or a subset of the essays in an institutional repository to which employees have access for self-study or as part of a mentoring program.  Consider offering a company-wide discussion forum to foster communication around each article and professional development in general.

  3. Send articles to employees, via email or otherwise, on a regular schedule.  Encourage employees to discuss topics with their mentor, mentees, and others.

  4. Provide the collection of essays to institutional mentors as a resource they can share, as appropriate, with mentees, as part of overall professional development coaching.
